Introduction
Buenos Aires, sometimes referred to as the New York of South America, is the bustling capital of Argentina. Its 3 million inhabitants, known as portenas, are among the proudest people in the world, and not without reason. The city's charisma is that of a true metropole, with the world's broadest street Avenida 9 de Julio (16 lanes!) as its aorta.

Shopping is world class, with leather products and jewelry as the main attractions. Nighlife is top of the bill, too, although its incredible late hours tend to interfere with effective business hours. Read more

Arriving
International flights to Buenos Aires arrive at Ezeiza Airport (EZE, or officially known as Aeropuerta Internacional Ministro Pistarini). Most flights connect from Atlanta or Miami. A taxi ride from Ezeiza to the city center takes around 40 minutes and costs approximately $35. In peak hour traffic, this can take more than 1 hour however. Most business travelers prefer to take a radio taxi, which can be booked at the taxi booths, located just outside the airport.Read more

Getting around
Taxis can be hailed on every street corner and are cheap (meters start at US$1.12 and less than US$5 will bring you anywhere in the city). However, some business travelers prefer to book a radio taxi by telephone. The radio taxies are a bit cleaner and supoosedly safer, but they charge a somewhat higher price. Another possibility is to use Buenos Aires' surprisingly clean and sophisticated underground network, called Supte. A ride will cost you a mere US$ 0.70. Read more

A visit to one of the Tango shows is highly recommended. There is a wide variety of shows. Be careful not to end up in a tourist trap. A good quality show is Carlos Gardel.
